Former Knicks enemy Reggie Miller isn't sure Kevin Durant is destined for Madison Square Garden.
Not everyone is sold on the idea of Kevin Durant to the Knicks.
Reggie Miller, the ex-Indiana Pacers legend (and thorn in the side of every Knicks fan) turned TNT analyst, thinks the Knicks are in a good spot to land marquee free agents this summer.
But the sharpshooter needs to be sold on the idea of New York and the sensitive Durant being a good cocktail, per Newsday.
“Here’s my question: If he’s a little surly and upset by what an Athletic writer wrote, he has a couple of bad games in New York under that microscope, he’s really going to be upset,” Miller said. “So you have to factor in everything when you’re considering joining the New York Knicks, the No. 1 media market in the world and in our game.
“You can’t be upset with the media when you’re back-to-back NBA Champion and back-to-back Finals MVP. You think the kitchen is hot now, joining the Knicks, the expectations that are going to follow with that, there’s a lot that comes with it. That’s why you have to factor in not only the money, but you have to factor in the lifestyle, the winning.”
Does Miller think Durant will suck it up, deal with the media scrutiny sure to come and ultimately sign with the Knicks? No, but he’s willing to admit Durant could prove him wrong.
“So he’s going to have to understand what it’s all about if he chooses to go down that route. Personally, I can’t see him going to New York. But again, I could be absolutely wrong.”
